Can this car get in?
- • Used cars may only be imported from the US / Canada (USMCA); Chinese used cars cannot enter — new cars can
- • Who can import: Only company importers holding a Ministry of Trade import permit and meeting the nationwide after-sales network conditions may import commercially; individuals cannot import used cars (except relocation, disability and diplomatic cases)
- • Imports of used passenger cars are prohibited in principle (old / used goods need a Ministry of Trade permit, not granted for commercial used cars) (not re-checked in an official text this round: the Ministry page was down); this page prices new cars only
- • Passenger cars originating outside the EU / FTA partners pay an additional financial obligation on top of the 10% duty (Presidential Decree 10436, in force on publication on 22 Sep 2025): petrol / non-plug-in hybrid 25% or USD 6,000 per car, whichever is higher; plug-in hybrid 30% or USD 7,000; BEV 30% or USD 8,500; the former China-specific 40% additional duty was repealed at the same time; imports under an investment incentive certificate are exempt
- • Since 2024 cars of certain origins need an import permit: the importer must have authorised service points across all 7 geographic regions, a call centre and other conditions (check); China-spec cars need Turkish type approval / individual conformity

Türkiye bans imports of used passenger cars in principle (only relocation, disability and diplomatic exceptions) (check), so this page prices new cars only; the importer needs a Ministry of Trade import permit and a nationwide after-sales network (check). Cars originating outside the EU / FTA partners, including China, pay an additional financial obligation on top of the 10% duty (Presidential Decree 10436, from 22 Sep 2025): petrol / non-plug-in hybrid 25% or USD 6,000 per car, whichever is higher; plug-in hybrid 30% or USD 7,000; BEV 30% or USD 8,500; the earlier China-specific 40% on BEVs was repealed. On a CIF $20,000 car the floor amounts apply, so this page merges the two into duty 40% (petrol) / 52.5% (BEV); on dearer cars the 25% / 30% rate applies and this overstates. ÖTV special consumption tax is charged on (CIF + duty + additional amount) in brackets: BEV ≤160 kW 25% up to a TRY 1,650,000 base and 55% above, >160 kW 65% / 75%; petrol 1401–1600cc 75/80/90/100%, a 1.5L car at CIF $20,000 falls in the 90% bracket; VAT 20% on CIF + duties + ÖTV. Main ports Gemlik / İzmir / Derince.
