Rules and sources

Used passenger cars cannot be imported (check; the used sample here is only illustrative); right-hand-drive country where LHD cars cannot be imported or plated (check), so export the RHD version; only brand holders / registered importers may bring in new CBU cars. The CBU EV package (0% duty + government-borne PPnBM) expired on 31 December 2025 with no new permits for 2026; the 0% BEV PPnBM only applies to locally built cars meeting Ministry of Industry rules, so a CBU BEV pays 50% duty (also 50% for China-built with Form E) + 15% PPnBM + 12% PPN + 10% PPh 22. A 1.5L petrol car pays 50% duty (45% for a China-built 1.0–1.5L non-sedan with Form E) + 15% PPnBM (if over 15.5 km/L; 20–40% for thirstier cars) + 12% PPN + 10% PPh 22, with PPN and PPnBM on CIF + duty. Petrol cars also pay about 10–12.5% BBN-KB transfer tax at registration (BEVs 0 in most provinces). Cars arrive via Tanjung Priok; port and registration fees are estimates.
