Used cars are generally limited to 5 years (10 under the MOCI temporary-licence route, older needs committee approval); right-hand drive is prohibited, LHD only; cars must meet GSO Gulf standards and pass KUCAS conformity. Duty is the GCC common tariff of 5% on CIF; Kuwait has no VAT and currently no excise (the proposed selective tax targets tobacco, sweetened drinks and luxury goods, not ordinary passenger cars), so the landed cost is mainly duty + clearance and port charges + KUCAS / GSO conformity + Traffic Department inspection and plates, all estimated. Volume imports need a licensed Kuwaiti company as importer; non-citizens cannot import in their own name. Route Shanghai / Guangzhou to Shuwaikh / Shuaiba by RoRo.
