Can this car get in?

• • GSA public register of homologated models ↗
• • The earlier GSA framework sets a 15-year age limit; its application during the suspension needs confirmation
• • Who can import: Individuals and companies can import; clearance needs a TIN
• • Pre-shipment inspection: PVoC pre-shipment inspection for imported used vehicles was suspended on 2026-10-05. GSA will announce a new implementation date.
• ⚠ GSA confirmation is needed on how the earlier age, condition and importer-registration requirements apply during the suspension. Do not assume all requirements have been cancelled.
• • New-model homologation is separate from inspection of individual used vehicles. This suspension notice does not announce cancellation of new-model homologation.
• • The earlier framework lists flood or fire damage, chassis or safety-cage damage, assembly from spare parts and a km/h speedometer. Check each vehicle individually.
• • The importer and local clearing agent should confirm the applicable formalities before ordering and shipment.
• • Age penalty 5–50% for 10–15-year-old cars

• Electric passenger cars (tariff line 8703801900) pay 20% import duty; electric buses (heading 8702) 10%. The 8-year waiver in the 2024 budget applies only to EVs for public transport (buses, tro-tros, taxi sedans) and to SKD / CKD kits of registered EV assemblers, and explicitly excludes fully built cars for personal use; the enabling legislative instrument was never passed, and as reported in October 2024 only government-imported electric buses were actually exempt ↗ official 2026-09-20
• Overage penalty 5–50% for cars >10 years ↗ verified 2026-09-02
• GSA notice GSA/DGS/PN/26/11 (2026-10-05) suspends pre-shipment inspection (PVoC) of imported used vehicles. A new implementation date will be announced. No restart date was found in this review as of 2026-10-16. ↗ official 2026-10-16
• The earlier GSA notice 26/09 (2026-08-14) sets out new-model homologation, importer registration, and used-vehicle age and condition requirements. The 5 October notice does not individually revoke these requirements. Confirm their application and clearance conditions during the suspension with GSA. ↗ official 2026-10-16
