No need to fly to China to see the car: 12 items checked one by one — a problem is written as a problem, and what can't be seen is written as not seen. The dealer uploads 30 real photos, the AI checks each item and says one of three things: verified, finding, not assessable — no overall score. Buyers order on the report; for cars sold by LandedCar, the pre-shipment inspection report plus loading photos are the condition dossier, and within 3 days of collection only material mismatches not in the dossier are accepted, with a return if confirmed.
Listings marked “Available to order” are same-day quotes by model with maker photos, so they cannot get an AI report; we confirm the real car and its photos before you order.
Green “inspected on site” items come from a booked third-party inspection: underbody on a lift, battery health read by VIN from the national battery-tracing platform.
On-site visit, OBD read-out, photos by the checklist, battery history by VIN. Merged into the AI report.
Workshop lift, full battery / motor / controller report with legal standing, plus everything in Basic.
Booked and paid by the buyer up front (¥980 / ¥1,980 by price band); an independent inspection body in China visits the car and the result updates that car's condition dossier in place. On used cars it is ticked by default before the deposit and can be unticked after acknowledging the risk; new cars are not ticked. For cars sold by LandedCar the fee is credited against the balance and borne by LandedCar after purchase — at most two inspections per car, up to 1% of the listed price and capped at ¥2,000, the buyer paying any excess. For other dealers' cars the dealer pays by default once the deal closes (taken from the amount withheld from the deposit); the dealer may instead choose buyer-paid. The platform does not credit inspection fees. If no deal closes, the buyer bears the inspection fee.
Dealers shoot by this list. Ten photos get a car into search; thirty unlock the report.
Optional extras: a battery-health screen if the car shows one, and the oil dipstick on petrol and range-extender cars. Battery health itself is verified by VIN during a third-party inspection — a dealer's screenshot does not count.
| Case | What happens |
|---|---|
| Minor defects not in the report | Settled before loading on the inspection report — credit, repair or replacement; not accepted after loading. |
| Mileage | The odometer reading at handover is what counts; more than 10% off the report is a material mismatch. |
| Repairable fault | Credited at the repair quote or repaired before loading; not accepted after loading. |
| Material mismatch | New cars: VIN or spec differing from the proforma. Used cars: also accident, flood, fire, structural repair or mileage off by more than 10%. Raise within 3 days of collection; confirmed cases: return the car, full refund including freight and insurance within 90 days. |
| Damage in transit | Insurance claim — FOB on your policy, CIF on the one we arranged. Risk passes on loading. |
| Item marked “cannot assess” | Not a basis for a claim; that is what the third-party inspection is for. |
Cars sold by LandedCar are contracted, paid and delivered by LandedCar, and the platform is responsible for those orders. Other dealers' cars are contracted, paid and delivered directly between the dealer and the buyer; the platform is not a party, gives no guarantee and pays no compensation. If a deal is not honoured, the platform refunds the service fee it collected, provides the chat record and helps with communication, but does not collect debts on your behalf; dealers found in breach are banned. The seller, export provider and fees are recorded in each order when agreed; later price changes do not change historical orders. The Terms of Service govern.
