- Duty 50% on Chinese-built cars (from 2026-01-01, non-FTA countries) + VAT 16%; ISAN new cars only 2–17% (hybrids halved) ↗ verified 2026-09-02
- Used imports limited to US/Canada-built cars (USMCA decree, until 2026-11-30) — Chinese-built used cars effectively cannot enter ↗ verified 2026-09-02
From 2026 Chinese-built cars pay 50% duty; the used-car decree only admits US/Canada-built cars, so Chinese cars are effectively new-only and expensive. Chinese exports to Mexico fell 31% in H1 2026.
