Can this car get in?
- • Used cars may only be imported from the US / Canada (USMCA); Chinese used cars cannot enter — new cars can
- • Who can import: Importers / companies accredited with the Bureau of Customs may import new cars; used cars only under the No-Dollar Importation Program (returning residents etc.) with a DTI permit, once, for personal use
- • Used cars are banned (EO 156 as amended); the only exception is one personal-use car for returning residents, not resalable for 3 years; right-hand-drive cars cannot be registered (RA 8506)
- • CBU battery-electric cars pay 0% duty (EO 12/2023, extended to 2028 and widened to hybrids by EO 62/2024); BEVs are exempt from excise and hybrids pay half
- • Excise is price-banded at 4% / 10% / 20% / 50% of the landed value; a petrol car at CIF $20,000 falls in the 20% band
