EU duty 10% + VAT 20%, plus the NoVA registration tax: BEVs pay 0; a 1.5T petrol car (WLTP 130–150 g/km) pays round((CO2−91)/5)% of the net value less EUR 350, roughly 6–10% of the net price (EUR 1,250–2,050), with EUR 80 per gram above 155 g/km. New China-built BEVs and range-extender cars carry the EU countervailing duty: 35.3% unless a listed manufacturer issues the invoice with the required declaration; used cars (registered over 6 months and driven over 6,000 km) are outside it. Austria is landlocked: cars arrive via Koper or Trieste and continue by road. China-spec cars without an EU CoC need single-vehicle approval (cost estimated).
