Quién puede importar y qué entra

⛔ Solo volante a la derecha: los coches del mercado chino (izquierda) no pueden importarse — se necesita la versión RHD
• Usados solo desde EE. UU. / Canadá (T-MEC); los usados chinos no entran — los nuevos sí
• Quién puede importar: Mostly companies: PAN / VAT number and customs agent code required, payment through a Nepal Rastra Bank-regulated letter of credit; individuals must also pay by LC
• Drives on the left, right-hand drive; a China-spec left-hand-drive car cannot get an ordinary registration (diplomatic / special permits only)
• Used / reconditioned vehicles are barred under the 2025 NRB forex directive and the Nepal Vehicle Emission Standard 2025 (Euro 6 for four-wheelers) (estimate; the NRB original was not read and may only bar non-compliant vehicles)
• FY 2083/84 (from 17 July 2026) BEVs: 20% duty + Clean Infrastructure Investment Fee (CIIF, on CIF + duty) banded by customs value at 2.5% / 20% / 35% / 90% / 130% (thresholds Rs 2.0 / 3.0 / 4.0 / 5.0m) + 5% road fee (2.5% up to Rs 2.0m) + 13% VAT; BEVs pay no excise

Economic Act 2083 (Act No. 10 of 2083, gazetted 2083-03-30) Schedule 3: BEV cars 8703.80.91 / 99 pay a Clean Infrastructure Investment Fee (CIIF) with a 20% base rate; up to Rs 2.0m customs value only 2.5%, 3–4m an extra 15% (35% in all), 4–5m an extra 70% (90%), above 5m an extra 110% (130%); clause (3): CIIF is levied on customs transaction value + customs duty. Used / reconditioned cars cannot be imported (2025 NRB directive, Euro 6 for four-wheelers); drives on the left with right-hand drive, so a China-spec LHD car cannot get an ordinary registration. FY 2083/84 (from 17 July 2026, per the Economic Act 2083) BEVs: 20% duty + Clean Infrastructure Investment Fee (on CIF + duty) banded by customs value: up to Rs 2.0m 2.5%, 2–3m 20%, 3–4m 35%, 4–5m 90%, above 5m 130%; at the NRB rate of 154.5 a CIF of $20,000 is about Rs 3.09m, the 35% band (below about $19,400 CIF it is 20%, above about $25,900 it jumps to 90%), and 35% is used here; the 5% BEV road fee (levied on the after-tax value, 6.75% of CIF + duty) is folded into the same line, so the BEV line shows 41.75% (estimate). Petrol cars: 80% duty + excise by engine size 60 / 65 / 75 / 85 / 95 / 105% (65% at 1.5L; diesel bands differ) + 10% road fee (on the value including duty and excise, 29.7% of CIF at 1.5L, understated for larger engines) (estimate) + 13% VAT. Landlocked: sea freight to Kolkata then road to Birgunj, or overland via Kerung–Rasuwagadhi; payment must go through a letter of credit.
