Burkina Faso is a landlocked West African country relying on transit corridors via Lomé (Togo) or Tema (Ghana) to Ouagadougou. Conventional passenger cars face an import duty of 20%, VAT of 18%, and regional levies, bringing the total effective tax burden to around 46.5% of CIF (plus 5% excise for vehicles >=13 CV). Left-hand drive is mandatory and passenger car age is strictly capped at 10 years, with customs values for used vehicles benchmarked by CCVA.
