Who can import and what gets in

• Age limit 3 years
• Who can import: Resident individuals may import one car for own use every three years with their own foreign-currency account (new, or used under 3 years from first registration; petrol / petrol-hybrid / BEV only, no diesel); commercial new-car imports need a licensed dealer status under quota; from 2026 the change-of-residence (CCR) route allows duty-free import of a car under 5 years old and up to 1,800 cc (no diesel)
• Used cars must be under 3 years from first registration (5 years on the CCR returnee route); diesel passenger cars cannot be imported by individuals; left-hand drive
• The resident used-car route reduces the total duties and taxes by 80% for BEVs, 50% for petrol / hybrids up to 1,800 cc and 20% above; resale within 36 months claws back the relief (100% within 12 months, 66% at 12–24, 33% at 24–36)
• This page calculates full duties and taxes (before relief); duty is 30% for BEVs, 15% for petrol / hybrid up to 1,800 cc and 30% plus 60% internal consumption tax above 1,800 cc; tariff lines also list a 2% PRCT whose nature is unclear and which is not included (check)
