Who can import and what gets in
- • Age limit 5 years
- • Who can import: Individuals and companies may import; used cars normally enter the Zarqa Free Zone, pass the DVLD inspection and are then cleared or resold
- • Used cars may be at most 5 years old and battery-electric cars at most 3 years (including the clearance year); salvage cars are banned from 1 November 2025 and every imported passenger car must meet EU, US, GCC or Saudi technical regulations
- • Left-hand drive only (not stated on any page opened this round; check with the DVLD before the first order)
- • Special tax on battery-electric cars is a flat 27% since 29 June 2025 (no more value bands) plus 16% general sales tax; the published totals of 51% (petrol) / 39% (hybrid) combine special tax and sales tax, which implies about 30% and 20% special tax, with no engine-size bands (estimate)

Used cars are limited to 5 years of age (BEVs 3 years), salvage cars are banned from 1 November 2025 and only left-hand drive is accepted (check). Duty on passenger cars is essentially 0 (one petrol tariff line is 25%, check); the burden is the special tax plus 16% general sales tax: since 29 June 2025 battery-electric cars pay a flat 27% special tax (value bands abolished); the official totals of 51% (petrol) / 39% (hybrid) combine special tax and sales tax, which implies about 30% and 20% special tax with no engine-size bands (estimate), and the sales tax is charged on CIF + special tax. Cars arrive via Aqaba and used cars usually go through the Zarqa Free Zone for inspection before clearance; port and registration fees are estimates.
