Who can import and what gets in

Tax rules and sources
- EU duty 10% + VAT 21% (on price + freight/insurance + duty + countervailing duty) ↗ official 2026-09-20

- Registration tax (BIV / TMC) is set by each of the three regions: Flanders ended the BEV exemption on 2026-01-01 — newly registered BEVs and hydrogen cars pay a flat €61.50; petrol / PHEV are calculated from CO₂ and emission standard. Wallonia has used power, mass, CO₂ and energy type since 2025-07; Brussels uses engine power ↗ official 2026-09-20

EU duty 10% + VAT 21%; the registration tax differs in each of the three regions: Flanders has charged BEVs a flat €61.50 since 2026 (the BEV default here), PHEV / range-extender default to an estimated €150 and petrol to €1,000 — use the official calculator of the buyer's region and overwrite it; Chinese-spec cars need single-vehicle approval; new Chinese-built BEVs get the maker's countervailing duty automatically, used cars exempt.
