Who can import and what gets in
- • Who can import: Individuals and companies may import; declare with invoice, foreign registration and ID, then cantonal technical and registration approval
- • Switzerland is outside the EU; bonded transit through the EU does not trigger EU duty or countervailing duty
- • Customs clearance is not registration; a China-spec car needs individual technical approval

Switzerland is outside the EU: industrial duty on passenger cars is 0% since 2024, automobile tax 4%, VAT 8.1%, no EU countervailing duty. Petrol / plug-in hybrid imports also face a CO2 penalty (not included ⚠); BEVs pay none. China-spec cars need cantonal technical approval before registration (cost estimated).
