Who can import and what gets in

• Who can import: Individuals and companies can import; companies need an EORI number
• A China-spec car without an EU CoC needs individual approval and a technical inspection before registration
• EU duty is 10%; new China-built BEVs and range-extender cars also carry the EU countervailing duty, used cars (registered over 6 months and over 6,000 km) do not
• Passenger cars of Euro 3 or lower cannot be registered (emission class, not age); used Euro 4 cars pay an extra EUR 3,000 environmental charge, Euro 5a/5b EUR 1,000

Cars of Euro 3 or lower cannot be registered; the bar is by emission class, not age. EU duty 10% + VAT 24%, plus the registration tax: BEVs pay 0; petrol cars pay progressive rates on the Greek retail value (4% up to EUR 14,000, 26% to 17,000, 53% to 20,000, 62% to 25,000, 71% to 30,000, 30% above) times a CO2 factor, so a 1.5T at retail EUR 20,000–25,000 / WLTP 140 pays about EUR 2,930–6,030 (15–24% of retail); hybrid relief was cut in 2026, check circular E.2039/2026 before the first order. New China-built BEVs and range-extender cars carry the EU countervailing duty: 35.3% unless a listed manufacturer issues the invoice with the required declaration; used cars (registered over 6 months and driven over 6,000 km) are outside it. Sea freight to Piraeus. China-spec cars without an EU CoC need single-vehicle approval (cost estimated).
